Shell script - A shell script is a script written for the shell, or command interpreter, of an operating system. It is often considered a simple domain-specific programming language.

Z shell - The Z shell (zsh) is a Unix shell that can be used both as an interactive, login shell and as a powerful shell script command interpreter. Zsh can be thought of as an extended bourne shell with a large number of improvements, including some of the most useful features of bash, ksh, and tcsh.

Shar - In the Unix operating system, shar is an abbreviation of SHell ARchive. A shell archive is a shell script, and executing it will recreate the files.

On shell and off shell - In physics, particularly in quantum field theory, configurations of a physical system that satisfy classical equations of motion are called on shell, and those that do not are called off shell.
